This role is a senior-level engineering position focused on designing, building, and scaling security systems within a large-scale data and AI platform. The Staff Security Software Engineer will work on advanced security monitoring, integrating cloud, SaaS, and on-premise tools, and ensuring the reliability and observability of distributed systems. This position involves leading end-to-end projects, designing robust security tools, and collaborating across multiple teams to enhance the organization’s security posture. The successful candidate will influence security strategy, mentor peers, and develop high-impact solutions that protect sensitive data and support threat detection initiatives. - Design, implement, and maintain security systems and data pipelines to monitor and assess cloud, SaaS, and on-premise environments
- Build and deploy tools for managing and evaluating security state, integrating with third-party applications and cloud APIs (AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform)
- Lead end-to-end projects supporting data collection and security monitoring efforts
- Ensure systems meet reliability, observability, and compliance requirements, including FedRAMP standards when applicable
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share insights, resolve security issues, and influence organizational security strategy
- Mentor peers, promote best practices, and contribute to a culture of high-quality software engineering and security awareness
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in security-focused roles
- 6+ years building large-scale distributed systems with attention to reliability and observability
- Proficiency in Python, Git/GitHub, CI/CD automation, and Terraform
- Deep expertise in securing at least one major cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with software security, sensitive data handling, and data correlation engines preferred
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Leadership mindset with ability to mentor, influence security direction, and drive strategic initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
