Position Summary

The Director of Conference Services is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of group events, meetings, and conferences across Shanty Creek Resorts. This leadership role ensures seamless communication between clients and internal departments while delivering exceptional guest experiences from initial planning through post-event follow-up.

This position plays a critical role in driving group satisfaction, operational excellence, and revenue performance by aligning service delivery with brand standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all aspects of conference services, including planning, detailing, and execution of group events
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for group clients from contract through event completion
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Food & Beverage, Lodging, and Operations teams to ensure flawless event delivery
  • Oversee the creation and accuracy of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event timelines
  • Conduct pre-conference meetings and communicate event details effectively across departments
  • Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction by anticipating needs and resolving issues proactively
  • Manage and develop the Conference Services team, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
  • Monitor group revenue, upsell opportunities, and profitability of events
  • Maintain strong relationships with repeat clients and key accounts
  • Ensure compliance with resort standards, policies, and safety protocols
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in conference services, event management, or hospitality operations
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Strong understanding of banquet operations and group event execution
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in resort or multi-venue hospitality environments
  • Familiarity with event management and property management systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera, etc.)
  • Experience managing large-scale conferences, weddings, and group events
