Job Title: Senior Engineered Project Manager – US Water Market Area
Reports to: Manager, Project Engineering & Execution – US Water Market Area
Location: Richmond, VA (preferred) or Remote
Position Summary:
The Senior Engineered Project Manager leads complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors with a primary focus on pumping systems. This senior-level role involves full lifecycle responsibility from planning and design through construction and commissioning for engineered pump solutions integrated into treatment plants, conveyance systems, collection/distribution networks, and flood control infrastructure.
The Senior Engineered Project Manager engages in engineering projects, from initiation to commissioning to product support. The position responsibilities include project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules. He/she is responsible for scheduling, developing, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling identified engineered projects. The position executes engineering and design requirements to furnish the deliverables set forth in the project specification, defines the systems and equipment described in the order, and ensures that systems comply with, and function to, customer specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Own and drive full project delivery in strict alignment with contract terms and conditions and project specifications and drawings, delivering on time, within budget.
• Build stakeholder confidence in KSB by providing decisive project leadership on project timelines, RFI’s, change management, conflict resolution, and design issues, positioning KSB as the trusted partner of choice.
• Create and execute comprehensive project plans, schedules, and milestone frameworks; track progress, anticipate roadblocks, and proactively coordinate with Local and Factory teams to accelerate delivery and remove obstacles.
• Translate client vision into achievable reality - expertly interpreting needs, aligning expectations with financial realities, and delivering solutions that exceed requirements while protecting profitability.
• Take full command of financial performance — consolidate as-sold budgets, control execution budgets, and drive margin optimization throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead technical scope definition & execution, thoroughly review technical specifications, drawings, and requirements (pumps, mixers, VFDs, controls, etc.) to establish clear, comprehensive project scope and deliverables.
• Prepare & review technical submittal documentation and packages (drawings, calculations, analyses, CAD, 3D models) throughout the project life cycle to secure customer approvals in-line with internal and external requirements.
• Serve as the primary interface providing confident updates on technical deliverables, production & delivery timelines as required by Engineering Firms during the entire lifecycle of assigned projects.
• Manage customer Requests for Information (RFIs) - Coordinate internal and external resources to provide technical assistance to answer and resolve technical issues and deliver best-in-class engineering solutions that resolve issues and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
• Define, communicate, and protect project success criteria, actively managing stakeholder expectations from inception through closeout to ensure consistent alignment and outcomes.
• Anticipate and manage change as scope shifts. Actively devise contingency plans, mitigate risks, and turn potential disruptions into opportunities for improved project execution exceeding stakeholder expectations.
• Disposition warranty and customer claims with a focus on fulfilling customer expectations. Gather and objectively review technical evidence to develop path forward in ways that reinforce customer loyalty and protect KSB's reputation.
• Resolve warranty and claims with authority and fairness - objectively evaluate technical evidence, determine clear paths forward, and fulfill commitments in ways that protect KSB's reputation.
• Coordinate and deliver onsite and/or remote support during startup, commissioning and training as required on assigned projects. Ensuring internal and external stakeholder alignment is achieved.
• Actively partner with Sales & Business Development Teams and provide technical and project execution insights to support the success of engineered project contracts expanding KSB’s market presence within the engineered project space in the US.
• Ensure flawless data integrity and visibility. Driving accurate contract processing through purchasing and planning systems to enable real-time, reliable reporting and informed decision-making.
• Instill a culture of continuous improvement — personally lead post-project “lessons learned” sessions to capture successes, address shortfalls, and institutionalize best practices across the organization.
• Spearhead process innovation — actively participate in Kaizen initiatives and champion organizational change management to elevate business efficiency, effectiveness, and competitive advantage.
• Embrace additional assignments as required to advance KSB's mission and business priorities.
• Support all the stakeholders of the Water Market Area in the acquisition of new business and retention of existing accounts.
• Self-train and maintain up to date knowledge on the KSB product portfolio available for the water and wastewater market, as well as gain self-sufficiency on the use of the internal configuration and pricing tools. Transfer this knowledge to representatives through in-person and on-line training.
• Attend and Contribute to the Market Area, company business meetings, and provide reports on an as-needed basis.
• Conduct business travel for in-person meetings in the most cost-effective manner and full abidance to KSB Travel and Expense Policy as well as KSB’s Compliance Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
• B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Project Management Professional (P.M.P) certification required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure project management, with significant focus on pumping systems.
• Competency and Proficiency with Typical Business Systems (MS Tools, Adobe, etc.)
• Experience with Document Control/Transmittal processes
• Experience with Project Scheduling Software (Project, Primavera, etc.)
• Experience in private and public bid processes.
