Position Overview
Lehman Village Older Adult Center is a vibrant hub for active older adults. We seek a dynamic and energetic Program Assistant to help support the day-to-day operations of the center. The ideal candidate will have strong multitasking abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for engaging with older adults and the community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare a monthly calendar in consultation with the Director.
- Conduct classes and activities, including evidence-based programs aligned with the Department for the Aging (DFTA) standards.
- Promote events and activities to increase membership through community engagement.
- Plan, organize, and supervise off-site trips and events as assigned.
- Maintain member records in the database (PeerPlace) and document information units as required by DFTA standards.
- Assist with the daily lunch service.
- Act as the on-site lead in the Director's absence.
- Provide support for emergency response efforts.
- Handle additional tasks as assigned to support the center's operations.
- Provide coverage on DFTA cooling days, including reporting, attendance, and extended and weekend hours as dictated by NYC Aging.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
- Associate'sDegree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field (or equivalent experience). Bachelors preferred.
- Familiarity with DFTA standards.
- Possession of an NYC Certificate in Food Protection or willingness to obtain.
- Proficiency in Spanish Required
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
The role may include outdoor activities for trips or community outreach.
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally for program setup or event preparation. The position may require standing for extended periods, especially during events or meal services. Must also be able to assist with light physical activities when necessary, such as helping clients with mobility issues during assessments or while transitioning from one area to another.
The role is based in a senior center environment, requiring a mix of administrative work and direct interaction with program participants. Work is primarily indoors but may include outdoor activities. Effective communication and a welcoming presence are essential.
Position Type and Work Schedule
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The role is based in a senior center environment, requiring a mix of administrative work and direct interaction with program participants. This role works 9a.m. to 5pm, Monday through Friday, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. This role is OT eligible.
Compensation & Benefits: This role offers an hourly rate between $19.58–$20.17, in full compliance with the NYC Pay Transparency Act. Final placement is based on experience, skills, and internal equity. This role is overtime-eligible. CBN offers a generous benefits package including multiple health and dental plan options (including 100% employer-paid coverage), 15 vacation days, 4 personal days, 10 sick days, paid holidays, and enrollment in a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3% employer contribution and eligibility for a matched contribution after one year.
