About This Position
The Warehouse Supervisor plays a key leadership role in daily warehouse operations. This position is responsible for overseeing daily workflows, supporting team leads and associates, and maintaining productivity, safety, and operational efficiency across departments. The Warehouse Supervisor must be proactive and solutions-oriented.
This role requires strong communication skills, a hands-on leadership style, and the ability to manage people and priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Occasional after-hours availability may be required to ensure continued operations and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Oversight: Supervise day-to-day operations across all warehouse departments including Receiving, Shipping, Picking, Stowing, Inventory, and Special Projects, ensuring tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and within service level expectations.
- Team Leadership: Provide support and direction to Team Leads and associates. Set clear expectations, delegate tasks effectively, and provide on-the-floor coaching to drive accountability and performance.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues quickly. Troubleshoot bottlenecks, equipment challenges, or personnel gaps, and make decisions to keep workflow uninterrupted.
- Process Improvement: Monitor workflow and operational efficiency. Propose and implement process changes to reduce errors, improve safety, and enhance throughput.
- Safety and Compliance: Reinforce a culture of safety by ensuring all staff adhere to company safety protocols, PPE usage, and equipment guidelines. Participate in safety audits, incident reporting, and corrective action plans as needed.
- Training and Development: Support the onboarding and training of new hires, and assist with cross-training initiatives to build a flexible and knowledgeable workforce. Help develop Team Leads through mentorship and daily coaching.
- Inventory Accuracy: Support inventory control by ensuring materials are received, labeled, stored, and picked according to SOPs. Help track discrepancies, ensure timely resolution, and assist with physical or cycle counts when needed.
- Communication Hub: Act as a liaison between warehouse staff and leadership. Clearly communicate updates, priorities, procedural changes, and performance feedback to the team.
- Documentation and Systems Use: Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and operational tools (e.g., spreadsheets, dashboards) to track productivity, verify task completion, and maintain accurate records.
- Availability and Flexibility: Be available to support urgent operational issues outside of scheduled hours when necessary, including through phone or text communication.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of warehouse experience in a leadership role (e.g., Team Lead, Lead Associate, etc.)
- Strong understanding of warehouse processes and best practices across departments.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining a positive, productive environment.
- Effective communicator — able to deliver clear instructions, provide feedback, and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with warehouse systems.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
