UX Design Director

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a UX Design Director in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the end-to-end player experience for a major AAA, cross-platform competitive game, with a strong focus on Live Service and Meta Systems. You will define and evolve the UX vision for complex, evolving gameplay ecosystems that engage players over time. Acting as both a strategic leader and hands-on designer, you will influence core systems, flows, and interaction models that directly impact player engagement. The environment is highly collaborative, bringing together Product, Design, Engineering, Production, and Art teams to deliver cohesive experiences. You will also help guide and grow a UX design team, setting standards and elevating craft quality across the discipline. This is a highly impactful role where UX decisions shape both moment-to-moment gameplay and long-term player retention. It is ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of vision, systems design, and execution in a fast-evolving game development setting.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will define and lead UX direction while also contributing directly to hands-on design work, ensuring high-quality player experiences across complex systems and live service features.

  • Define and drive the UX vision for key areas of the game, with emphasis on Live Service and Meta Systems.
  • Contribute directly to UX design work, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and documentation.
  • Build scalable UX frameworks that support ongoing content, events, and live service evolution.
  • Partner with Product and Design teams to align UX direction with player needs, feature goals, and business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Art teams to ensure seamless, high-quality player experiences.
  • Establish UX principles, standards, and best practices across systems, navigation, and interaction design.
  • Ensure consistency across information architecture, progression systems, and player-facing features.
  • Support and help grow a UX design team, guiding execution and elevating overall output quality.
  • Use player data, usability insights, and live performance metrics to continuously refine experiences.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced UX leader with a strong background in game systems and live service environments, combining strategic vision with deep hands-on design expertise.

  • Extensive experience in UX design for games, particularly in systems, live service, or player-facing experiences.
  • Proven ability to define, drive, and deliver UX vision from concept through live operations.
  • Strong hands-on UX design skills, including flows, wireframes, prototyping, and documentation.
  • Experience designing complex systems such as progression, social features, storefronts, or live content structures.
  • Strong understanding of player behavior, usability principles, and engagement-driven design.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across Product, Design, Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience in UX teams, with a track record of improving team output and quality.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with UX design tools such as Figma, Adobe Suite, or equivalent platforms.
  • Passion for building high-quality, engaging, and player-centered experiences.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote work with flexibility across locations
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) allowance
  • Dedicated studio closure periods during summer and winter holidays (in addition to PTO)
  • Private medical and dental healthcare coverage
  • Private mental health support scheme
  • Annual health and wellbeing allowance
  • Discretionary annual studio bonus
  • High-end tech setup provided for remote work
  • Additional regional benefits depending on location
  • Strong culture of autonomy, trust, and outcome-focused work
