Job Description
The Payroll & Accounting Manager plays a critical, hands-on role in the financial health of the organization. This position is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations, supporting core accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and employment regulations. The role works closely with HR, Finance, auditors, and leadership to ensure accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement across financial processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage full-cycle payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees using Paylocity.
· Oversee general ledger activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close in Sage 100.
· Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
· Maintain effective internal controls and clear financial documentation.
· Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
· Collaborate across departments to improve finance systems and processes.
· Additional duties as required.

· Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
· 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll and accounting functions, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
· Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax reporting requirements, and general accounting principles (GAAP).
· Hands-on experience with Sage 100 or a comparable accounting system.
· Experience administering payroll through Paylocity or a similar payroll platform.
· Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Lightspeed, and Stripe
· Experience performing month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective internal controls and financial documentation.
· High level of accuracy, integrity, and discretion when handling confidential information.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
· Exposure to restricted funds, donations, program revenue, tuition, or retail sales.
· Experience supporting audits or financial reviews.
· Other duties as assigned.
