The Senior Manager, Analytics & Insights plays a critical leadership role in realizing the organization’s goal of creating data-driven solutions for improving health and well-being in Trenton and the surrounding region. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this role oversees the analytics arm of the organization. The Senior Manager is responsible for envisioning and executing an analytics strategy that empowers internal staff and external partners with actionable insights to support decision-making, program evaluation, and systems change. Major functions include:

  • Quantitative Thought Leadership: Partner with senior leadership and external stakeholders to envision, develop, and deploy data solutions to inform and evaluate practice.

  • Strategic Oversight: Lead the design and delivery of THT’s analytics products, ensuring they align with organizational priorities and community needs.

  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor the analytics team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and community-centered innovation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary consultant for non-technical colleagues and community partners to translate complex data into clear, concise narratives.

Essential Functions

1. Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Envisions, plans, and leads analytical initiatives that affect all aspects of THT’s operations, programs, and community engagement

  • Collaborates with the Senior Data Systems Manager to align data infrastructure (Salesforce, HIE) with analytical goals and reporting needs

  • Stays abreast of, recommends, and implements new analytical techniques, AI tools, and novel data sources to keep THT at the forefront of the field

  • Supports the development and maintenance of THT’s strategic plan through analysis of community-level indicators and evaluation of project/portfolio performance.

2. Advanced Analytics & Storytelling
  • Oversees the use of statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze data and deliver high-impact analytics products

  • Plans, develops, and presents research and analysis in written reports and presentations that are easily understood by diverse audiences, including residents, funders, and policymakers

  • Leverages data from the Trenton Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Medicaid claims to drive regional reporting and policy recommendations

3. Program Evaluation & Monitoring
  • Collaborates with program teams to develop robust outcome/output monitoring and evaluation strategies for a diverse portfolio (e.g., chronic disease management, food security, maternal health)

  • Identifies novel public and proprietary data sources to measure THT’s impact on the social determinants of health

  • Ensures all data documentation processes are maintained so that the entire organization benefits from evaluation efforts

4. External Consultancy & Compliance
  • Supports external partners with data needs and projects in a consultative leadership capacity

  • Assists THT leadership with business development for data projects and maintains strong client relationships

  • Adheres to THT’s strict privacy requirements and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information (HIPAA/FERPA)

  • Regularly disseminates THT’s work in peer-reviewed journals, white papers, and professional presentations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the Analytics Team, including at least one Data Analyst and periodic data interns

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies, including hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and resolving problems

  • Provides technical guidance and career development support to junior team members to ensure a high-performing technical team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years of data analysis / data science experience, ideally with research related to population health, health policy, or community development, and demonstrated professional experience in working with data relating to one or more of public health, epidemiology, health claims, Medicaid and health insurance

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science)

  • Demonstrated experience in multivariate quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including descriptive, inferential, and predictive statistics

  • Familiarity with electronic health record and medical claims data

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to ensure timely deliverables for multiple projects with competing deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline

  • Prior experience manipulating, processing and extracting value from large and messy datasets

  • Prior experience providing supervision/leading a team

  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders and peers to translate findings into recommendations, especially as it relates to public policy

  • Demonstrated writing, communication, and data-driven storytelling skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience

  • Demonstrated experience with program evaluation and outcomes measurement

COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Core: Proficiency in Google Workspace.

  • Tools: Proficiency in at least two of the following:

    • SQL queries

    • Statistical programming languages (R, Python, or Stata)

    • Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or ArcGIS)

    • Salesforce administration

Integration: Experience connecting to external data sources (cloud data warehouses, APIs).
