Job Title: Manager of Neighborhood Cleanups
Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time

Reports To: Director of Clean Neighborhoods
Salary: $46,000 - $50,000

Purpose:
As the Manager of Neighborhood Cleanups, you will lead and coordinate all activities of the Great Indy Cleanup (GIC) program, ensuring effective operations and strong community engagement. You will be responsible for recruiting and supporting resident participation, building neighborhood capacity to address litter, and ensuring equitable access to cleanup resources. The GIC program is a cornerstone of KIB’s mission, delivered in partnership with local government, private companies, and community stakeholders. This position reports to the Director of Clean Neighborhoods and requires close collaboration with colleagues across KIB, as well as external partners including the Department of Public Works, Republic Services, and Southside Landfill.
Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
- Great Indy Cleanup (GIC)
- Manage the request and fulfillment process for residential cleanups, including documentation, tracking, and follow-up to ensure accountability and responsiveness.
- Responsible for planning, tracking, and managing cleanup supplies, equipment, and related budgets to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations.
- Serve as primary liaison with cleanup partners (Keys2Work, Department of Public Works, Southside Landfill, etc.) to ensure timely and accurate execution of tasks such as dumpster placement and retrieval, litter disposal, and other resource management needs.
- Plan and implement at least two annual focus cleanup events in Spring and Fall seasons.
- Prepare and submit monthly and annual reports for the City of Indianapolis, Keep America Beautiful, and other funders as required.
- Lead promotion of anti-litter programs by attending neighborhood meetings, conducting outreach to community groups, engaging project partners, and representing KIB at other engagement opportunities.
- Oversee and facilitate in-person supply pickups for volunteers, ensuring efficient scheduling and fulfillment.
- Organize KIB’s Plogging events, working closely with external partners to secure location and support from local communities.
- Manage and support additional cleanups and special projects as needed to advance departmental goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned in service to the mission of KIB.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong active listening and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated self-motivation, attention to detail, and high level of organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Knowledge and familiarity with Indianapolis neighborhoods strongly preferred
- Proficiency in a language other than English (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole, Chin, Tagalog) preferred
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of volunteer management or litter mitigation experience preferred
- Experience with GIS and/or Salesforce CRM a plus
Requirements:
- Physically able to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) consistently throughout a regular workday
- Comfort walking, standing for long hours, and withstanding working outdoors in all seasons
- Ability to accommodate seasonal nature of workload, including working weekends and/or evenings as needed
- Valid driver’s license with six points or fewer
- Ability to or willingness to learn how to:
- Pull a 20-25’ long trailer behind a full-sized pickup truck
