About This Position

The Department of Nursing is seeking applicants for adjunct/part-time faculty Nurse Practitioner positions for the following clinical areas:
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
The University expects that each faculty member will display a high degree of professionalism. By accepting and assuming an adjunct faculty position, your duties include, but are not limited to, the following professional responsibilities and obligations:
Essential Functions
The following are the essential functions for performing the following job functions:
  1. Maintain professionalism, competence, and knowledge of the subject matter and strive to keep informed of contemporary developments in the field of specialization through reading and research.
  2. To meet each class as scheduled and conduct work ethic according to the highest professional standards.
  3. To distribute to each student at the beginning of the semester a syllabus for each course containing the course description, course objectives, policies concerning attendance, course requirements, and criteria for grading.
  4. To be available to students for advice and counseling on matters regarding their academic performance and progress in class
  5. Treat all students fairly ,impartially, with understanding, including the use of cultural, diversity, and inclusion
  6. TomaintainadherencetocoursedescriptionsinthesyllabusandtheCourseCatalog.
  7. To adhere to deadlines and schedules established for the timely reporting of grades and other matters related to student registration and record keeping.
  8. Keep an accurate and complete class log and report all final grades to the Department Chair person. The system for computing final grades should be clearly stated at the end of the course
  9. Respond to student emails, inquiries, and office hours within 24-48 hours.

Required:
  1. Master's degree in nursing with a current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) or multi-state license and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the State of Delaware with PMHNP or FNP certification required. An earned doctorate degree in nursing or a related area is preferred.
  2. PMHNP National Board Certification or FNP National Board Certification (ANCC or AANP)
  3. Current unencumbered RN license in the state of Delaware or required state of practice
  4. Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience in advanced practice, e.g. (outpatient, acute, long-term
  5. care)
  6. Proven track record in teaching with a diverse student population
Delaware State University (DSU) offers a Master of Science in Nursing program, fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
