Cardiopulmonary Aide at Shore Medical Center – Somers Point, New Jersey

Position Summary

The CardioPulmonary Rehab Aide is responsible for assisting with patient-related activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Exercised Physiologist. To provide patient care, cleaning of specific equipment, stocking of supplies and equipment. In addition, the Cardio Pulmonary Rehab Aide will assist with the central station monitors, apply monitors to patients, admit them into the documentation program, interpret the cardiac rhythms, document rhythm strips when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse or Exercise Physiologist in the care of the patient according to institutional policy.
• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities following Registered Nurse or Exercise Physiologist’s instructions, physician orders, policies, procedures and regulations.
• Displays competence while performing the following skills:
  • Taking weights (standing scale)
  • Obtaining vital signs and reporting changes or abnormalities to the Registered Nurse or Exercise Physiologist
  • Pulse oximetry monitoring
  • Cardiac monitor application
  • CPR
• In collaboration with the Registered Nurse or Exercise Physiologist, provides for actual and anticipated education needs and includes education to meet these needs in the plan of care.
• Provides care to patients in an organized and systematic manner according to institutional policy in keeping with patient safety principles.
• Demonstrates the ability and competency to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.

Qualifications

• Previous patient care experience required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required
