About the Role:

The Charge Nurse, LPN working the 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care during evening hours. This position is responsible for overseeing the nursing team, coordinating patient care activities, and serving as a clinical resource to staff. The Charge Nurse ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies while promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. They act as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective communication and patient-centered care. Ultimately, this role is essential in maintaining smooth operations and delivering compassionate, efficient care during the assigned shift.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of New Jersey
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an acute care or long-term care setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated leadership or charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to work the 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift consistently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in charge nurse or supervisory roles within a healthcare setting.
• Advanced certifications such as IV therapy, wound care, or geriatric nursing.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards such as OSHA, HIPAA, and CMS guidelines.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate nursing staff activities during the 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift to ensure optimal patient care.
• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring patient conditions in accordance with LPN scope of practice.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, offering guidance and support to promote best practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, facility policies, and safety standards.
• Manage shift documentation, including patient records, incident reports, and staffing logs.
• Respond promptly to patient and family concerns, escalating issues as necessary to maintain quality care.
• Assist in staff scheduling and resource allocation to meet patient care demands effectively.
• May require taking a med cart at times

Skills:

The required skills enable the Charge Nurse to provide competent and compassionate patient care while effectively managing the nursing team during the shift. Clinical nursing skills such as medication administration, patient assessment, and wound care are applied daily to meet patient needs. Leadership and communication skills are essential for coordinating staff activities, resolving conflicts, and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration. Proficiency with electronic health records supports accurate documentation and information sharing. Preferred skills, including advanced certifications and regulatory knowledge, enhance the nurse's ability to deliver specialized care and maintain compliance with healthcare standards.
