As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data Analyst Intern to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights.

A Data Analyst Intern supports the delivery of analytics initiatives for Salute's data center clients by assisting with data preparation, validation, analysis, dashboard development, and reporting. This internship provides practical exposure to real-world energy and performance datasets while contributing to active client and internal projects.

Working under the mentorship of senior analysts and program leadership, the intern will assist in transforming complex sustainability and infrastructure data into structured outputs that support informed decision-making. This role is designed to provide meaningful project experience, technical skill development, and insight into analytics within the data center and sustainability engineering industry.

The Data Analyst Intern will work with the team to:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining dashboards, dataflows, and reporting tools that support client energy and sustainability programs
  • Assist in identifying trends and performance insights across client portfolios
  • Contribute to analytics initiatives aligned with program goals

The role will have supervised access to client datasets, APIs, and internal toolsets, while learning industry best practices in energy analytics and data governance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in cleaning, organizing, and validating energy and building performance datasets to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  1. Support the development and maintenance of dashboards, dataflows, and recurring performance reports using tools such as Power BI.
  1. Perform assigned analytical tasks under guidance to support client deliverables and internal initiatives.
  1. Document data sources, assumptions, and methodologies to promote clarity and reproducibility.
  1. Conduct quality checks following established data management standards.
  1. Contribute to ongoing projects by completing assigned deliverables on schedule.
  1. Collaborate with Energy & Sustainability team members to support project objectives.
  1. Learn and apply Salute’s internal analytics platforms, reporting standards, and processes.
  1. Support continuous improvement initiatives, including workflow optimization and automation efforts where appropriate.
  1. Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and structured professional development activities throughout the internship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data analytics, computer science, sustainability, environmental science, related field.
  1. Rising junior or senior preferred.
  1. Foundational knowledge of data analysis tools such as Python, R, or SQL.
  1. Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau plus.
  1. Strong analytical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  1. Demonstrated interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, or data center infrastructure.
  1. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  1. Eagerness to learn new tools, systems, and industry concepts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Academic or internship experience applying data analysis to real or simulated datasets.
  1. Experience cleaning and transforming datasets.
  1. Experience building dashboards, visualizations, or analytical reports.
  1. Familiarity with time-series data analysis.
  1. Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations, & Microsoft Word for creating reports.
  1. Exposure to sustainability, building systems, mechanical/electrical engineering, or energy modeling concepts is a plus.
  1. Familiarity with predictive analytics or basic machine learning concepts is a plus.
  1. Previous exposure to BMS systems or Modbus protocols is a plus but not required.

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure

The hourly rate for this role is $25.00 per hour. This range reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. This posted hourly rate is the final rate of pay for the position, based on job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
