What you can expect as a Release Manager:

  • Develop and maintain a detailed release calendar and schedule, coordinating with all relevant teams to ensure alignment and readiness
  • Create, maintain and improve detailed documentation of release process, deployment and rollback plans, and post-release reviews
  • Manage and coordinate the deployment of software across various environments, ensuring proper configuration and stability
  • Conduct release readiness reviews with Development, DevOps, Infrastructure teams and business stakeholders as needed
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps engineers to ensure alignment between release management and CI/CD pipelines, optimizing continuous integration and delivery practices
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with releases, including potential impacts on systems, integrations, timelines, and business operations.
  • Ensure that release management processes comply with industry best practices, and adhere to internal compliance policies and audit requirements
  • Be knowledgeable about automation tools and scripts such as Jenkins, Terraform, and Docker to better understand build & deployment pipelines
  • Monitor and manage software versions across different release phases and environments to assist service vendors with pipeline quality assurance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all release related communications and ensure transparency throughout the release process
  • Establish and track KPIs for release management
  • Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the release management process leveraging feedback and lessons learned from prior releases
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members on release management best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and process improvement.

What we are looking for as a Release Manager :

  • 5+ years of experience in software release management
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git including managing branching strategies
  • Hands on experience with CI/CD pipelines including the ability to configure, monitor, and optimize automated pipelines
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and technologies, especially JIRA, Jenkins and Terraform
  • Experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Technical orientation and strong understanding of SDLC
  • Understanding of industry leading Agile methodologies and frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with ever-shifting priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environments
  • Demonstrable ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively across functional areas fostering collaboration and teamwork
  • Demonstrable willingness to assume new responsibilities, and initiative
  • ITIL/ITSM experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
