About This Position
Rosie’s Place was founded in 1974 as the first women’s shelter in the United States. Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to help poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.
Over the years, we have become much more than a shelter. We are a multi-service community center that not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for thousands of women a year through wide-ranging support, housing, and education services. Rosie’s Place relies on the generous support of individuals, foundations, and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding.
OPPORTUNITY
Rosie’s Place is seeking a detail-oriented individual with a passion for human services to join our Human Resources team. The Human Resources Associate reports to the Sr. HR Generalist and provides essential administrative and logistical support to the HR team, helping to ensure the day-to-day operations of the department run smoothly. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and eager to learn about HR processes while contributing to the success of our organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Support
- Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist in preparing HR-related documents, such as offer letters, onboarding packets, and compliance forms.
- Manage HR calendars, schedule interviews, and coordinate meetings.
- Prepare standard HR reports and assist with audits.
- Respond to employee inquiries and direct them to the appropriate HR personnel as needed.
- Support compliance initiatives by tracking and organizing required training and documentation.
- Verify Payroll data changes (new hires, terminations, status changes)
- Benefits documentation and tracking.
- General administrative support as needed.
Recruiting Assistance
- Post job openings on various job boards and company platforms.
- Review and screen resumes to identify qualified candidates for certain positions.
- Schedule interviews and provide timely communication with candidates and hiring managers.
- Conduct pre-employment checks to include background screenings and references
- Assist in onboarding new hires, including coordinating orientation and processing new hire paperwork.
- Maintain applicant tracking system (ATS) by updating candidate information and recruitment activities.
Other Duties
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives to improve department efficiency.
- Assist with various event planning, including New Employee Orientations, the annual Wellness & Benefits Fair and other staff acknowledgement activities throughout the year.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree preferred or 1-2 years of professional experience in human resources or a related field.
- Bilingual preferred.

- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Motivated self-starter committed to formal and informal on-the-job learning.
- Flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and busy department.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and be welcoming to all.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 with a robust benefits package. Rosie’s Place offers medical and dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, pension contributions, paid vacation, and more.
WORK EXPECTATIONS AT ROSIE’S PLACE
We are a hands-on team and seek employees who are passionate about our work and service to our community. The Human Resources Associate is expected to work onsite at Rosie’s Place during their work week and engage regularly with staff, guests, and volunteers.
We adapt to safety protocols related public health as we understand them, and all employees must follow our safety protocols. Among these protocols, we require all employees to be up to date with their yearly vaccinations. Requests for exemptions are considered.
