About This Position
Responsible for leading coding efforts and improving quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Performs internal quality(and productivity) coding, and documentation reviews to ensure coding compliance and complete, accurate and consistent documentation as well as coding which results in appropriate reimbursement and data quality. Monitors coding workload and schedules appropriate resources to meet the needs of the organization. The Team Leader, Coding serves as the main resource to coding and support to CDI for daily coding questions as well as documentation/query questions. This individual also provides individualized education as well as generalized education to the coding staff. Assures coding and abstracting functions are performed in an, accurate, timely manner and which adhere to official coding guidelines. The Team Leader, Coding participate in various projects as needed, involving data quality and the impact of documentation on reimbursement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- CCS Coding Certification required
- Minimum of five years of acute care coding experience
- One year experience working with CDI or documentation improvement processes
- Previous experience leading or managing day to day operations or a function or group.
- Good oral, written and organizational skills
- Ability to foster a positive, goal oriented work environment and ability to promote a collaborative approach among the Coding and CDI staff.
- Proficient with MS office products.
