Description:

Annual Salary: Full range $45,052 - $91,021

We expect a qualified candidate to start in the hiring range $45,760 - $62,400

This is a non-exempt position. Applicants must pass a background check.

Northwest Asthma and Allergy – 9725 Third Ave NE, Ste 500 Seattle, WA 98115

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Job Summary

Northwest Asthma & Allergy Center is looking for a Patient Care Coordinator to support patients in an allergy and asthma practice by managing prior authorizations, coordinating biologic treatments, and facilitating effective communication between patients, providers, and insurers. This role is essential for ensuring that patients receive timely access to treatments and that they are well-informed about their care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, and is dedicated to enhancing the patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients undergoing biologic treatments, answering questions, providing treatment information, and helping patients navigate their care journey.
  • Follow up with patients regarding treatment updates, appointment reminders, and any additional instructions from the clinical team.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, or patient portal, ensuring timely and compassionate communication.
  • Coordinate and submit prior authorization requests for biologic treatments and other allergy/asthma-related medications.
  • Track the status of authorizations, renewals, and denials, working closely with insurance companies to resolve any issues.
  • Communicate authorization updates to patients and the clinical team, keeping all parties informed of approvals, delays, or required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, authorizations, and treatment milestones in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Organize and update the biologic treatment and re-authorization tracking spreadsheet for the clinic.
  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments for biologic treatments, follow-up visits, and other treatment-related needs.
  • Provide patients with educational resources about their treatments, including biologics, medications, and allergy/asthma management tips.
  • Guide patients in understanding treatment protocols, preparing for visits, and knowing what to expect with biologic therapy.
  • Help patients access community resources, support groups, or financial assistance programs if applicable.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical staff to relay important patient information, track treatment progress, and address any patient concerns.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies to streamline access to care.
  • Attend regular team meetings to stay informed about updates to treatment protocols, workflow improvements, or patient communication strategies.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in a healthcare, customer service or administrative role
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a healthcare team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or college coursework in healthcare administration, health sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience with prior authorizations or patient coordination.
