Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain applications using Synon/Cool 2E within IBM i (AS400) environments
  • Enhance and support pharmacy claims processing systems, including adjudication logic and integrations
  • Develop and optimize COBOL programs and batch processing workflows for high-volume transactions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring system stability and performance
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate healthcare and PBM requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Lead code reviews, enforce development standards, and promote best practices across the team
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers and peers
  • Support integrations with external systems (e.g., EDI, APIs) and ensure seamless data exchange
  • Contribute to modernization and transformation initiatives, improving legacy systems and processes
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in Synon (Cool 2E) development
  • Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming in enterprise environments
  • Proven experience within the healthcare or PBM domain (claims processing, eligibility, benefits, pharmacy systems)
  • Deep expertise working with IBM i (AS400) platforms
  • Solid experience managing batch processing and high-volume transactional systems
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver effective solutions
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring development teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with system integrations, APIs, and data exchange frameworks
