Laser Operator Precision Fabrication for Structural and Misc. Steel

Job Overview:

The Opportunity: You will serve as a technical expert in our Design & Technical department, transforming raw materials into precision components. This role allows you to work on unique, custom fabrication projects that support commercial, industrial, and government infrastructure. You will have a direct impact on project success by ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and craftsmanship.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Operate CNC plasma laser cutting machines to produce high-quality parts for complex structural steel projects.

  • Interpret detailed shop drawings and DXF files to ensure every cut meets strict architectural tolerances.

  • Optimize material nesting and layout to minimize waste and improve overall shop efficiency.

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibrations to prevent downtime and ensure machine longevity.

  • Conduct thorough quality inspections using calipers and gauges to verify consistency across production runs.

  • Collaborate with the welding and fabrication teams to maintain a fluid workflow and meet strict deadlines.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and fabrication drawings.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in material handling and precision measurement techniques.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machine performance issues.

  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes safely in a factory setting.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Experience working specifically within a structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of CAD/CAM software and digital file management.

  • Welding experience is a plus.

  • Ability to lift 50+lbs.

  • OSHA, First Aid, CPR Training.
