This role is responsible for leading and optimizing new business and underwriting operations within a dynamic life insurance environment. You will oversee case management processes, ensure timely and accurate policy issuance, and provide effective support to underwriting teams. Partnering closely with cross-functional teams, you will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance the overall customer experience. The position requires a balance of operational leadership, analytical skills, and hands-on management to drive team performance. You will manage and mentor a high-performing team while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in life insurance operations, highly adaptable, and passionate about delivering excellence in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Accountabilities:- Oversee new business and underwriting operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of life insurance applications.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of case managers and new business specialists to foster a high-performing culture.
- Track case progress, monitor KPIs and SLAs, and ensure consistent performance across all team members.
- Identify and resolve operational issues or bottlenecks that could impact workflow efficiency or customer experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to improve processes and achieve operational goals.
- Implement and maintain best practices, standard operating procedures, and reporting processes for new business operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance, underwriting, or new business operations within a carrier, agency, or financial institution.
- At least 5 years managing a team of case managers, new business specialists, or equivalent customer-facing operations roles.
- Strong understanding of call center operations, call handling techniques, and quality monitoring processes.
- Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce, AWD, and other customer support or workflow tools.
- Experience defining and managing KPIs and SLAs (e.g., AHT, ASA) and analyzing trends to improve performance.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex operational issues using data-driven approaches.
- Experience in training, coaching, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic life insurance underwriting principles.
- Highly adaptable and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
