Job Summary:

The Regional Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing company and client safety programs to ensure compliance with the organization’s safety vision, principles, and strategies. This role focuses on conducting regular visits to jobsites to perform safety audits, enforce policies, procedures, and practices, and assist in incident investigations to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. The Regional EHS Coordinator will collaborate closely with field technicians, project managers, and senior leadership to drive consistent communication, accountability, and measurable safety outcomes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Regional Policy Development and Compliance

• Conduct field-based safety inspections and audits at company facilities and job sites, ensuring strict adherence to company, client, and regulatory standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other applicable regulations.
• Lead on-site safety initiatives, driving accountability, continuous improvement, and risk awareness by engaging directly with field teams and front-line supervisors to address safety concerns and implement immediate corrective actions.
• Perform hands-on fleet safety management, including conducting vehicle compliance checks, inspections, and maintenance oversight to ensure operational safety.
• Administer proactive training and safety equipment programs on-site and off-site, delivering hands-on training to field personnel and verifying compliance with internal protocols and regulatory standards.
• Assisting on updating Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other regulatory documentation, ensuring accessibility for field teams and timely compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

Regional Training and Continuous Improvement

• Champion company’s EHS vision by driving strategies that foster leadership accountability and employee ownership of safety.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities through lessons learned, benchmarking, and industry advancements.
• Deliver effective training for Operations field staff and management to strengthen awareness of safety requirements and best practices.
• Assist with accurate tracking and maintenance of employee training certifications and compliance records.

Regional Incident Management and Reporting

• Lead and support investigations of incidents, injuries, vehicle accidents and near misses to identify root causes and establish corrective actions.
  • Provide support for standardizing incident management processes, ensuring consistent documentation and timely reporting to leadership and regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations regarding accommodations and effective return-to-work programs for injured employees.

Metrics & Key Performance Indicators

• Provide support for tracking, analyzing, and report key safety metrics, including incident rates, near-miss frequency, training completion, and jobsite inspection results.
• Identify trends, suggest actionable insights, and recommend targeted improvements to strengthen overall safety performance.

Risk Management

• Identify, assess, and prioritize regional EHS risks, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
• Assist with the mitigation of identified safety gaps and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
• Ensure all field personnel in the assigned region are properly equipped with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Provide EHS support across all project phases, including job hazard analyses, lockout/tagout procedures, contractor orientation and auditing, customer safety-related communications, site-specific work plans/permits, and post-job reviews.
• Perform subcontractor safety vetting, supervision and training, as needed.

Collaboration & Communication

• Collaborate directly with company’s Field Personnel, Front-Line Supervisors, Operations Managers, Administrative Assistants, the rest of the EHS department and other personnel, in order to build and promote a proactive, safety-first culture.
• Be primary point of contact for safety-related Customer and Subcontractor inquiries in the region assigned.
• Provide expert safety guidance during planning and pre-job meetings, particularly for high-risk projects.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, or other typical platforms for safety data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
• Detail-oriented approach to documentation and compliance.

Experience and Education:

• Associate degree in an Environmental Health and Safety related field, or equivalent industry experience (1-3 years) and,
• 3-5 years of experience in electrical safety in a construction or industrial environment, subject to electrical safety regulations such as NFPA 70E or NEC.
• Experience as member of the EHS team or field employee in an electrical utility or electrical testing, commissioning or engineering company highly desired.
• Minimum OSHA 30 training required. Higher OSHA level preferred.
• NFPA 70E required (2024 edition).
• First-Aid/CPR/AED required (if expired may renew within 30 days of hire)
• Other preferred certifications include Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) credentials such as CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, CHST, or GSP or other equally-recognized industry credentials such as the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP).
• Nationally recognized electrical safety certifications including CESCP, USOLN, and CUSP a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting, Standing & Walking: Must be able to sit for extended periods while working in an office environment or driving to jobsites, as well as stand and walk frequently during jobsite inspections.
• Climbing: Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs to inspect work areas.
• Bending & Kneeling: May need to bend, kneel, or crouch.
• Lifting & Carrying: May need to lift and carry safety equipment, tools, or training materials (typically 25-50 lbs.).
• 20-30% office-based, 70-80% field-based including drive time.
• Occasional after-hours and weekend support, as needed.
