Starting Range: $51,869-$77,155

Job Description:
CIBH is seeking a knowledgeable and community-focused Prevention Specialist to advance evidence-based prevention initiatives within our Behavioral Healthcare division. This position plays a key role in reducing risk factors associated with substance use and mental health disorders while strengthening protective factors across the lifespan.
The Prevention Specialist plans, implements, and evaluates prevention programming in accordance with federal, state, and local prevention frameworks. This role collaborates with community partners, schools, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and civic organizations to deliver data-driven strategies that address identified community needs.

Typical Tasks Include:
  • Implement evidence-based prevention programs targeting substance use and behavioral health risk factors
  • Conduct community needs assessments using epidemiological and qualitative data
  • Develop strategic prevention plans aligned with state and federal guidance
  • Facilitate educational workshops and public awareness initiatives
  • Build and maintain coalitions with community stakeholders
  • Monitor program fidelity and ensure compliance with grant requirements
  • Collect and analyze data for performance measurement and outcome reporting
  • Prepare reports for funding entities and regulatory bodies
  • Support environmental strategies, policy initiatives, and community-level interventions.

Required Qualifications:
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in health education, social work, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City’s Driving Standards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prevention Specialist Certification, preferred
  • Public speaking experience, preferred
  • Experience presenting workshops or webinars via a virtual platform, preferred.

  • The ability to engage with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, parents, and other community partners in a collaborative, personable and positive manner.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Resiliency in working with a diverse range of individuals across various settings.
