Reports to: Director of Residential Services

Location: 201 Duffie Drive, Lexington, SC

Hours: Full-Time (30 hours per week)

Job Status: Full-Time, Hourly

Shift(s): 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Position Overview

Unumb Place is seeking a hands-on leader to serve as House Manager for our residential community supporting profoundly impaired adults. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on mentoring staff, solving problems, and fostering a positive team culture while ensuring that residents receive the highest quality of care.

The House Manager will lead a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), manage the day-today operations of the home, and maintain clear and effective communication with families, residents, and the leadership team. While the House Manager may assist with direct care when needed, the primary focus is on leadership, team supervision, and operational excellence.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor DSPs to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.
  • Conduct regular performance check-ins, provide constructive feedback, and support staff development.
  • Lead daily shift change briefings to ensure consistent communication and smooth operations.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between DSPs, families, residents, and the Director of Residential Services.

Operational Oversight

  • Organize and oversee daily operations of the home, ensuring schedules, assignments, and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, DDSN regulations, and health/safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care, incidents, and observations.
  • Manage supplies, household needs, and activity schedules.

Resident Care & Support

  • Support DSPs in assisting residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding).
  • Oversee safe medication administration and document health updates.
  • Implement and monitor behavior support plans.
  • Facilitate recreational activities and community outings to promote engagement, choice, and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in human services OR at least five years of supervisory experience in adult residential services or a related human services field.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team in a residential or healthcare setting.
  • Strong conflict resolution, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, adaptable to different audiences (staff, families, residents, and management).
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities, behavioral health, and person-centered careprinciples.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Therap.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid SC Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and employment physical.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

Ability to lift 50 lbs. or half of body weight, whichever is less.

Work may require bending, standing, walking, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and assisting with physical transfers.

Must be able to respond effectively in emergencies and de-escalate challenging situations.

Exposure to indoor/outdoor conditions and occasional verbal or physical aggression.
