Summary of Duties
Gospel in Life seeks to hire a Major Gifts Officer (MGO) in cultivating and activating high net worth families to support the ministry’s major donor initiatives, including a new project that will expand the sermon ministry of Tim Keller. This role will report to and work with the Director of Partner Engagement to cultivate new and existing donors for Gospel in Life’s fundraising initiatives. Gospel in Life is currently working on a special 5-year, multi-million dollar campaign. We seek a MGO that has experience securing major-level gifts from both existing and new families in support of Gospel in life.
The NYC-based Gospel in Life team operates on a hybrid working schedule based out of our Flatiron NYC office three days per week, usually Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This role is US-remote eligible and required to travel significantly to meet with donors in-person and be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings as needed.
This role requires a strong sense of how to cast and communicate the Gospel in Life vision and is highly relational in reflecting our ministry ethos of caring for prospective and existing donors.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of high capacity donors who have given significant financial gifts above $50K and/or made multi-year commitments
- Cultivate and steward relationships with high-capacity prospective donors by consistently communicating the ministry’s vision, priorities, and progress toward key initiatives.
- Create tailored, comprehensive donor plans for individual families and foundations
- Develop and execute strategic moves management plans, including consistent donor touchpoints, meetings, and follow-up to advance relationships.
- Develop and present compelling, customized funding proposals and gift opportunities aligned with donor interests and organizational priorities.
- Success looks like generating sustained revenue growth by securing and increasing major gifts, strategically managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors, and consistently meeting or exceeding annual fundraising goals.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Partner Engagement to align and execute strategic fundraising initiatives.
- Assist the Director of Partner Engagement in the development of supporting donor materials in collaboration with the editorial, translations, marketing and creative teams
- Leverage Funraise, Gospel in Life's CRM, to strategically manage donor relationships, track engagement activity, and drive timely, data-informed moves that advance giving.
- Prepare internal reports on portfolio activity and progress; assist in projecting and tracking multi-year gift solicitations
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and personal relationship building skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Attention to detail, strong planning skills, and strong initiative, with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to work in a highly consensus-driven, collaborative team
- Experience with foundations and other donors that might be interested in being introduced to Gospel in Life is preferred
- Significant exposure to Tim Keller’s teaching, writing and theology
- Proficiency with Google Suite and CRM software, preferably Funraise
- Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of ownership, strategic thinking, and resourcefulness in managing complex relationships and achieving defined goals.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five or more years of highly-relational fundraising experience cultivating high capacity supporters who have given significant financial gifts above $50K
- Ministry experience preferred but not required

The pay range for this role is:
105,000 - 115,000 USD per year(New York)
