Toolmaker Machinist at SST Direct – Farmington, Connecticut

Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a precision manufacturing company in Farmington, CT to identify an experienced Toolmaker / Machinist for a direct hire opportunity. This role is a critical backfill position, with precision Jig Grinding as the primary responsibility. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished toolmaker or machinist with strong inspection capabilities and the mathematical aptitude required for complex setups and high-tolerance work.

While Jig Grinding will be the primary daily function, this role will also support additional machining operations as needed.

• Perform precision Jig Grinding as the primary function of the role

• Conduct detailed inspections to ensure tight tolerances and quality standards

• Operate and set up:

  • Manual milling machines

  • CNC milling machines

  • OD Grinders

  • Surface Grinders

• Utilize sine plates and precision measurement tools

• Apply strong shop math and trigonometry skills independently

• Support toolmaking and machining activities as required

• Proven experience as a Toolmaker and/or Machinist

• Strong background in Jig Grinding (preferred)

• Experience with precision inspection and high-tolerance work

• Familiarity with sine plates and advanced measurement techniques

• Ability to independently perform complex setups and calculations

• Willingness to perform Jig Grinding as the primary daily task

• Accomplished toolmaker willing to be trained in Jig Grinding if not already experienced

• Experience in a job shop or high-precision manufacturing environment

• Pay Range: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour, based on experience
