What You Will Do
  • The Assistant Director of Pathways and Credentialing leads the design, coordination, and expansion of alternative digital credentials (ADCs), non-credit programs, workforce development, and community-based learning initiatives across SIUE's extended sites in Alton, Belleville, East St. Louis, and Edwardsville.
  • This position is central to advancing the university's commitment to workforce-aligned, accessible learning by developing short-form credentials and community-relevant courses that reach diverse learners.
  • Reporting to the Director of Online Services and Educational Outreach and supported by office staff, the Assistant Director will ensure all offerings are industry-responsive, equity-minded, and strategically aligned with institutional goals for access, innovation, and impact.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree.
-A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
-Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

AND

• Bachelor's degree in education, workforce development, continuing education or related field
• Certified Workforce Development Professional within the first year of employment:

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in education, workforce development, social work, public administration, or related field
• Experience working in higher education, especially in non-traditional or adult learner contexts
• Knowledge of labor market analytics and workforce training initiatives
• Experience managing part-time staff, contractors, or instructional talent
• Ability to work across diverse communities and navigate institutional structures to get project off the ground

Illinois Residency Requirement:Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
