The Engineering Technician will design, construct, diagnose, repair and do performance verification of electronic equipment in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. The Engineering Technician will perform high-quality, detailed work utilizing minimal cost and time. The incumbent will also properly document the design, construction, repair and performance verification of electronic equipment. Excellent hand tool skills are required. Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout software. The ability to read and understand complex schematics and manuals is required.
Job Summary
Creates and documents the design, construction, and repair of complex circuits and instruments while following University, state, and local regulations. Diagnoses and repairs the component levels of widely diverse types of instruments; orders instrument components. Prepares budgets and bills of material. Uses applicable software, reads blueprints, and trains fellow workers.
Essential Functions
This job requires fine motor skills, and excellent eyesight. Precision tools are used in the repair and manufacture of delicate electronic equipment.
Physical Effort
It is necessary to be able to climb ladders and lift weights to approximately 50 pounds. Extended standing, crouching and working in cramped locations is sometimes required.
