SCOPE INFORMATION

Location: Kennedy Space Center, Merrit Island, Florida
Approximate Start Date: Second Week of April
Duration: Approximately 4 Months (Dependent on Unforeseen Delays)
- 3 Months (90 Days) – Fabrication and Install
- 1 Month – Testing

Scope: Cape Canaveral Gigabay Fluids – Routing Installation
· Pipe/tube fabrication, mounting (with supports), cleaning, proofing, installation, and leak checks for:
o Air – 4” and 2” Unipipe
o Argon – 4” and 2” Unipipe
o Mixed Gas 98/2 – 2” Unipipe
o HP GN2 – 2” Sch 80s, 1” x .095” Stainless Flare Tube
o Nitrox – 3” and 6” Sch10s
JOB SUMMARY
The Contract Quality Inspector position requires a person to demonstrate the ability to maintain Acadian’s quality standards by using any means necessary to accurately measure, document and satisfy industry and customer specifications. This position requires an understanding of all aspects of Quality at Acadian Contractors Inc. with the ability to step in at any process to promote quality and focus on continuous improvement. QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferably high school diploma or equivalent
- Current CWI certification required
- 5 years minimum experience, (Piping and Structural) fabrication
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, or national, U.S. lawful, permanent resident with ability to pass background checks for Cape Canaveral.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
- Attend pre-job/kick-off meeting to understand all project requirements.
- Participate in scheduled Quality coordination meetings.
- Participate in all interim, per-floor, and final inspections with SpaceX.
- Read and interpret all AFC prints including structural and piping.
- Review, understand and implement job specific requirements & specifications for all jobs.
- Sign off on Traveler/ITP Inspection as required.
- Verify material on fabricated items are correct as per drawing requirements.
- Ability to read tape measures or any devices deemed necessary to achieve dimensional tolerances.
- Maintain dimensional control and tolerances associated with all AFC prints. This includes but is not limited to advising and instructing fitters, welders, lead men, and shop foreman on dimensional controls and techniques on how to achieve drawing dimensions during fabrication.
- Spot inspection of layout and fit up via visual and dimensions check with appropriate measuring device, or any other measuring device needed to achieve the accuracy needed to satisfy dimensions called out on AFC print. This includes the documentation of all verified dimensional checks signed off on the Quality drawing(s). Fitter drawings are also reviewed to assure proper heat numbers are properly documented on the Fitter AFC prints.
- Understanding of welding procedures for monitoring welders to the parameters of job approved welding procedure(s).
- Verify Welder qualifications to welding procedures utilized per job requirements.
- Verify WPS documentation at assigned posting area as required per fabrication drawings.
- Monitor adherence to required welding procedures on a customer request basis. Monitoring to include welding speed, volts, amps, heat input and gas flow.
- Inspection of all welding fabrication for deficiencies after the welder has visually checked all welds and is deemed ready for Quality final check.
- Welder Identification visual checks on all fabrication welds. Tracing and recording welder stencils on weld maps.
- 100% dimensional/visual check of overall product prior to finished product being released.
- Manage and organize NDE for job as needed utilizing weld inspection matrix(ces). This includes using a “call out” sheet to direct the NDE Company on what is needed for a call out.
- Data book required documentation and reporting for job is required and maintained by Quality inspector. (As-Builts, NDE Matrix and Reports, Hydro/Cleaning Reports, Test Reports, etc.)
- When work stoppage or special hold point arises, flag red and sign. Remove tag upon confirmation to proceed.
- Formally report any repetitive and/or substantial personnel quality, accuracy, workmanship, or reliability issues to Superintendent for follow up and mitigating actions. All incidents shall be reported in the QIRT when deemed necessary.
- Always have a positive attitude towards customers being serviced as well as ACI as a company.

- Conduct periodic quality assessments of HSE processes to aid in their own coaching and mentoring of others demonstrating ownership of the results for such process implementation
