Associate Database Architect in Chicago, Illinois at Wheels, Inc.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Associate Database Architect provides technical direction for the development and implementation of database systems. Use a combination of business and technical skills to design efficient, scalable, highly available database applications. Possesses strong technical, organizational and communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Participate in recommendations for new development tools for Data Management area
• Develop training effort for database tools and initiatives
• Design, develop and implement complex database systems, programs and applications
• Code review of projects
• Attend scrums to help assist with inter-project code and architecture needs
• Work with IT, PMO and users to identify and develop system requirements
• Write, maintain and review functional and technical specifications
• Keeps abreast of evolving Database technologies and best practices and recommend improvements as appropriate.
• Escalation point for database application issues
• Perform optimization of SQL code

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position has no managerial responsibilities.

COMPETENCIES - SKILLS

• Working knowledge of ETL tools such as SSIS
• Working knowledge of business intelligence tools
• Working knowledge of database replication, mirroring, backups
• A passion for database systems
• Very strong problem-solving skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, preferred.
• Minimum of 4+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience with T-SQL development.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience with tuning and optimizing database performance

Work Environment: This hybrid position is in Alpharetta or Schaumburg and operates in a professional office environment.
Position Type/Standard Schedule: Full Time; Monday thru Friday
Travel: No travel required
Physical Demands: The role may involve high-pressure situations and tight deadlines, requiring strong time management and stress management skills.

Pay Range:

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan which is based on company performance and individual performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, education, certifications, skill level and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
