Description:

Summary/objective

The Preschool Director is the responsible for the successful daily operations of the acac Preschool. He/she is responsible for developing and implementing activities and services offered to children, enrolling new students, managing billing, as well as supervision, orientation, training, and scheduling of team members who work directly with children.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Preschool Team

  • Provide strong leadership with excellent communication skills and problem solving abilities
  • Responsible for hiring and training of preschool teachers
  • Responsible for ensuring all teachers meet VDSS licensing standards
  • Proactively plan and conduct regularly scheduled teacher trainings
  • Develop and maintain an adequate staffing plan and schedule to ensure effective and safe operation of the program
  • Ensure that the Preschool is always properly staffed; this may include occasional or scheduled teaching hours
  • Conduct regular meetings with Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers
  • Conduct annual evaluations for Preschool team
  • Lead by example in following VDSS licensing standards; ensure team is equally thorough
  • Work actively with teachers to establish and maintain high curriculum standards
  • Maintain a notable visual presence among teachers by visiting classrooms and observing teaching methods
  • Be prepared to serve as a teacher if/when needed; always be prepared to assist teachers in different classroom situations
  • Create a culture of service to the team and to the preschool families
  • Ensure that team is in proper acac uniform at all times
  • Approve all preschool payroll and submit approval to Payroll manager by requested deadline
  • Collaborate with HR team to ensure new team members have provided appropriate new hire paperwork
  • Ensure team is properly certified (CPR/AED, MAT, etc.)

Preschool Facility

  • Maintain in safe, working, and clean condition
  • Coordinate with Facilities Director and/or housekeeping team to ensure routine maintenance, cleaning, and repairs
  • Purchase and maintain supplies necessary for successful facility operation

Students/Parents

  • Deliver and receive daily information internally and externally via personal contact, acac Webmail and/ voicemail
  • Establish and maintain relationships with parents and students
  • Provide onsite visual leadership on a daily basis at either drop off or pick up
  • Keep parents informed of events and activities and encourage participation
  • Communicate with parents regularly
  • Serve as main point of contact related to all preschool questions (programs, facility, billing etc.)

Preschool Program

  • Oversee the operations and staffing for the program
  • Perform regular evaluation of preschool policies and procedures and update as needed
  • Conduct preschool tours
  • Prepare and maintain the preschool handbook containing policies and procedures
  • Ensure teacher and student files are complete; review periodically for needed updates or missing information
  • Collaborate with Vice President of Operations and Lead Teachers in reviewing and updating preschool policies and procedures
  • Coordinate regularly scheduled emergency drills
  • Collaborate with Marketing Director to ensure marketing material is up-to-date and accurate; develop creative ideas that will market the program and increase participation
  • Purchase and maintain all needed supplies to ensure continued program success
  • Plan and coordinate special events and field trips
  • Participate in regularly scheduled VDSS inspections and serve as the onsite preschool contact to VDSS

Financials

  • Establish and operate within an accurate budget for the Preschool
  • Strive to increase gross and net revenue year-to-year
  • Process preschool payments and ensure timely payment by all participants

Administrative:

  • Maintain a variety of records, including applications, permission slips, accident reports, medical records, etc. in a safe and confidential manner
  • Follow prescribed administrative procedures and protocols when purchasing supplies
  • Attend meetings and training as required
  • Coordinate with other acac Directors and Managers to ensure an overall high level of success for the club
Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and managerial skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to related to young children, teachers, and parents
  • Must be willing to work additional hours (weekends and/or evenings) based on the needs of the program and/or other Adventure Central site youth programs
  • Must be able to qualify as a program director as required by VDSS standards for Licensed Child Day Centers
  • Must have genuine interest in working with and interacting with children
  • Ability to successfully pass VDSS required background checks
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • If not already certified, attend CPR/AED/MAT training provided by acac and maintain certification for the duration of employment

Education and Experience:

  • College Degree in Education or related field preferred
  • High School Diploma required
  • Must qualify as a Program Director; to qualify as a Program Director, candidates must be at least 21 years of age, and meet ONE of the requirements set forth by the VDSS (22 VAC 40-185-190)
  • Prior working experience and knowledge of VDSS licensing standards highly desired
  • Prior experience with preschool and/or youth programming highly desired
  • Prior management experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, stretch, climb and move for duration of shift
  • Must be able to participate in indoor and outdoor activities
  • Must be able to frequently lift, move, or hold children
  • Must be able to work professionally and calmly in an environment which may have heightened noise and stress

  • Park in team member designated areas
  • Club cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep club neat and clean
  • Attend mandatory Personal Training meetings
  • Assist with Service Days, as assigned by Supervisor
  • Assist with club programs, special events, or activities, as assigned by Supervisor
  • Promptly respond to work-related correspondence
  • Exhibit a positive attitude at all times
  • Deliver outstanding service to members and guests, following acac’s Five*Star principles
