Job Description

Senior Product Owner

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Product Owner in India.

This role sits at the center of a large-scale digital transformation of a developer portal used by a global logistics organization. You will act as the key link between US-based product managers and an India-based engineering team, ensuring smooth translation of product strategy into executable user stories. The environment is highly collaborative and fast-paced, involving cross-functional coordination across time zones and cultures. You will take ownership of backlog clarity, sprint execution, and story readiness for engineering workflows. A strong focus is placed on technical product understanding, especially in API-driven and developer platform ecosystems. This is an opportunity to directly influence how a critical developer experience platform evolves at scale. Success in this role requires precision, communication strength, and strong product judgment.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will own the translation of product vision into actionable engineering work and ensure seamless execution across distributed teams. You will be responsible for maintaining clarity, prioritization, and delivery alignment throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Lead story grooming sessions and convert epics and features into well-defined, engineering-ready user stories
  • Define and maintain clear, testable acceptance criteria aligned with product and engineering expectations
  • Own and continuously manage a prioritized product backlog aligned with program objectives
  • Coordinate execution across a distributed engineering team, tracking progress and removing blockers
  • Ensure sprint deliverables meet acceptance criteria before release
  • Act as the primary coordination bridge between US product managers and India-based engineering teams
  • Communicate sprint progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders in a structured and timely manner
  • Support architecture and design discussions alongside engineering leads and architects
  • Ensure stories are structured for modern engineering workflows, including AI-assisted development tools
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in product ownership within technical and API-driven environments, combined with excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

  • 5–8+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager (not primarily Scrum Master or BA roles)
  • At least 3 years of experience working on developer-facing products such as APIs, SDKs, developer portals, or integration platforms
  • Proven experience writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for technical systems
  • Hands-on experience running backlog grooming, sprint planning, and related Agile ceremonies
  • Strong understanding of system architecture and integration concepts
  • Experience working in Indian corporate environments and navigating cross-cultural communication dynamics
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira or similar platforms
  • Ability to work IST hours with overlap into US time zones
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination abilities

Nice to have:

  • Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication flows, or developer onboarding journeys
  • Familiarity with developer experience (DX) principles and API documentation standards
  • Exposure to developer portals or API marketplace products
  • Experience writing AI-assisted development-ready user stories (e.g., GitHub Copilot contexts)
  • Certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, or SAFe POPM
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation (based on experience and contract type)
  • Flexible work arrangements including remote work options within India
  • Comprehensive health coverage including private health insurance for employee and family
  • Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) coverage
  • Provident Fund (EPF) and retirement savings contributions
  • Paid time off including earned leave, casual leave, sick leave, and public holidays
  • Learning and development budget for professional growth
  • Reimbursements for internet, workstation, and business travel expenses
  • ESOP eligibility (where applicable) and anniversary rewards
  • Inclusive, collaborative, and globally distributed team culture
  • Regular team engagement activities and in-person meetups
