Summer Camp Counselor

Position Type: Seasonal, Part-Time (30 hours per week, Monday–Friday)
Dates: June 15, 2026 – August 7, 2026
Training: Paid pre-camp training is required and will take place on June 12.
Pay rate: $20/hour
Your Role: Summer Camp Counselor at Shu Ren School
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will support teachers and lead staff in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for elementary-aged campers. This is a hands-on, team-based role where you’ll assist with daily classroom activities, help manage routines, and build positive relationships with children.
You will play an important role in helping activities run smoothly and ensuring campers feel supported throughout the day. We’re looking for individuals who enjoy working with children, are dependable, and are ready to jump in and help wherever needed.

You’re patient, positive, and comfortable interacting with children throughout the day, whether helping with activities, guiding behavior, or supporting transitions.
Team player
You work well with others, take direction from lead teachers, and are willing to step in and help wherever needed. You’re reliable, communicative, and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Mandarin language skills
Fluency in Mandarin is required. You’ll help support a bilingual environment and encourage language use during daily interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support - Assist teachers with daily activities, set-up and clean-up, and keeping campers engaged and on task.
- Supervision & Safety - Help monitor campers throughout the day (classroom, recess, lunch, transitions) to ensure a safe and positive environment.
- Activity Assistance - Support indoor and outdoor activities by helping with materials, guiding small groups, and encouraging participation.
- Daily Routines - Help with transitions, snack/lunch times, and maintaining structure throughout the day.
- Team Collaboration - Communicate with teachers and fellow counselors to keep the day running smoothly and address camper needs.
- Camp Operations - Assist with arrival/dismissal, organizing materials, and general camp logistics.
- Training & Development - Attend required paid training before camp and optional professional development sessions after camp (August 18–29).
