Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Organizational Development/Training Specialist. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers learning programs (training, assessments, workshops) and maintains engagement while adapting to learner needs. Facilitates full sessions using provided materials and established processes.
  • Analyzes program data and participant feedback to evaluate program effectiveness. Identifies strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement and provides insights that demonstrate program value.
  • Engages customers and stakeholders to understand development needs through initial discovery conversations. Conducts structured needs assessments using critical thinking, probing questions, and inquiry techniques.
  • Advises customers and leaders on appropriate development solutions based on identified learning needs and available offerings. Provides clear guidance on program options to support informed choices.
  • Selects and integrates digital tools to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and learning outcomes. Identifies appropriate technologies for specific learning goals and incorporates them into program workflows.
  • Based on needs analysis, develops complete instructional design solutions using established instructional design models and adult learning theory including learning objectives aligned to business needs and, creating content and evaluation plans using varied modalities and tools.
  • Partners with project leaders to align adoption, engagement, and communications activities for defined OCM initiatives.
  • Applies informal coaching skills with peers and learners to reinforce skill transfer using active listening, open-ended questions, and supportive feedback. Provides structured coaching support using defined tools and frameworks to reinforce behaviors from learning programs.
  • Builds and strengthens the human-centered leadership capabilities essential for thriving in an AI Era, enabling leaders and teams to adapt quickly, guide workforce transformation, and deliver on strategic business outcomes.
  • Applies strong assessment and critical-thinking skills across responsibilities to validate needs, clarify business challenges, and ensure learning or performance solutions address the true opportunity.
  • Reviews and refines Leadership Academy and other L&OD program content to ensure alignment with GDMS culture, processes, and real-world examples, enhancing relevance for learners.
  • Facilitates virtual and onsite leadership development courses for Leadership Academy and other L&OD programs.

  • Communicates clearly in writing and speaking to tailor message to audience.
  • Uses advanced facilitation skills for leadership development courses (DDI facilitator certification preferred).

  • Exhibits proficient interpersonal skills and collaborates within and across teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Forms, Outlook, OneNote, OneDrive, and SharePoint).
  • Demonstrates effective organizational skills to manage materials, information, and tasks.
  • Uses proficient planning skills that anticipate, prioritize, and take timely action.
  • Skilled with online meeting platforms (e.g., Teams) and survey tools (e.g., Survey Monkey).
  • Manages high volume, overlapping, ambiguous requirements effectively.
  • Applies project management skills to meet deadlines on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experienced with analytic tools and processes including research, statistical analysis, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Uses skilled probing and consulting skills to understand and identify learning and development needs.
  • Applies strategic thinking to align work with business outcomes.
  • Leverages stakeholder management skills to work seamlessly across diverse groups.
  • Uses proficient influencing skills to gain stakeholder buy in and team ownership.
  • Demonstrates a strong orientation toward learning and applying new technologies (e.g. AI, L&OD technologies).
  • Skilled at demonstrating and communicating return on investment for L&OD programs and initiatives.

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $91,496.00 - USD $99,001.00 /Yr.
