POSITION SUMMARY
The Telecom Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the hospital information front desk telecom team. This position is responsible for managing staffing schedules, ensuring effective communication across all shifts, and coordinating emergency communication processes. The Supervisor also leads training and operational support for the Front Desk Operators and screeners, working collaboratively with the Director of Safety and Emergency Management to maintain consistent service, safety, and communication standards throughout the hospital.
Rate of pay: $19.58 - $28.20 per hour based on experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS- Licensure/Certification/Registrations: None
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Some higher education in a relevant field preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years experience in PBX operation and/or computerized communications preferred; 1–3 years of supervisory experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Skills & Abilities: Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in routine work. Work independently and problem solve as required. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and dependability. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Strong critical thinking, analytic and problem-solving skills. Ability to deal with diverse and confidential information with discretion and good judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate calmly and clearly while demonstrating patience and tact in dealing with coworkers, patients and visitors. Prioritize customer service skills for internal and external customers. Able to organize work while remaining flexible towards changing demands and encountering and tolerating many interruptions. Highly motivated with a positive attitude.
- Provide direct supervisory oversight for the department, including managing staffing levels, approving vacation and time off requests, and ensuring adequate coverage. Promptly escalate staffing or performance issues to the Director of Safety and Emergency Management when appropriate.
- Oversee employee management functions, including reviewing and approving time sheets, managing PTO requests, coordinating schedules, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Evaluate and counsel all employees on their performance in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with the interviewing, selection and hiring new employees.
- Lead and coordinate training for all newly hired staff and ensure ongoing staff competency through regular updates and instruction on new policies and procedures. This may include working off shifts and weekends to work with all staff members.
- Model and enforce high customer service standards while ensuring that patients, families, visitors, and vendors receive timely assistance, direction, and support as the welcoming “face of Craig.”
- Supervise proper operation of the CISCO phone system, ensuring staff respond to all incoming calls promptly, provide accurate information per hospital policy, and direct callers to appropriate departments.
- Oversee emergency communication procedures, including accurate interpretation of emergency panels and alarms, and ensure all staff follow required protocols. Maintain uptodate knowledge of emergency processes and train staff accordingly.
- Ensure immediate reporting to Engineering and/or Safety/Security when alarms activate, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe conditions are identified.
- Coordinate with Security on the management and documentation of lost and found items.
- Identify, monitor, and address opportunities for customer service improvement or safety, implementing changes or escalating concerns as needed.
- Participate as a supervisory representative in the Environment of Care Committee.
