Assistant Warehouse Manager/ Inventory at MERCER STREET FRIENDS CENTER – TRENTON, New Jersey

Job Summary:

TheWarehouse Assistant Manager - Inventory ensures thehealthy running of our warehouse inventory operations, includinginventory management, foodsafety, and audit compliance. Ensures compliance with theDepartment of Health, FDA, USDA, OSHA, DOT, and all other regulatory agenciesand laws governing business operations. Overall responsible for compliance withCFBNJ and Feeding America's applicable guidelines resulting in satisfactory monitoringvisits.

Ensuresthe highest efficiency and automation of warehouse and related volunteeroperations. Oversees all warehouse operations that involve thestorage and distribution of food with attention to safety, cleanliness, andorder. assists with the maintenance of the warehouse and foodhandling equipment; ensures cleanliness and sanitation of food bank;delivers food to member agencies; and picks up food donations whenneeded. Directs, manages, supervises, evaluates, trains, and motivateswarehouse inventory associates in collaboration with SR Manager of WarehouseOperations.

Duties& Responsibilities:

Communication with Agencies and Vendors

Assist with retail gleaning program, relationships and oversee food distribution process.

Oversee vendor relations, retail, equipment maintenance, donations, etc.

Assist with general vendor/agency/retail relations/operations management, when needed.

Warehouse Supervision

Ensure the warehouse inventory operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by supervising, organizing, directing, and training warehouse inventory employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operation goals.

Develop warehouse inventory operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.

Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, equipment layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality, and customer service standards are met.

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

Meet regularly with inventory warehouse staff to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity.

Inventory Control

Oversee daily operations, while controlling and managing inventory and logistics

Weekly oversee quality control measures.

Assist with grocery list dissemination and picking ticket process.

Oversee the movement, distribution, and storage of products and inventory.

Storage and Packaging

Package items and label them correctly.

Properly store and rotate inventory using the first in first out method.

Customer Service

Resolve customer service disputes and inventory complaints for agency pick up and deliveries. 

Administration

Coordinate inventory staff scheduling and timecards. 

Help maintain warehouse office calendar for deliveries, pick-ups, etc., when needed.

Proper obtaining, check-off completion, updating, tracking, and filing of picking tickets to ensure accuracy and ease of invoicing.

MinimumQualifications and Experience:

Associates degree preferred.

Minimum 2 years of supervisor experience required.

Valid Driving license required to drive Food Bank vehicles if needed.

DOT Physical Certification (to obtain an active DOT Medical Certificate)

Valid First Aid and CPR training and certification required.

Training Certified required to train the staff in the usage of electric machinery.

Certification required to operate electrical machineries in the warehouse.

ServSafe certification preferred

Six Sigma Certification Preferred.

Preferred bilingual (English/Spanish).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel.
