About This Position

Picker and Shipper Associate

SUMMARY
The Picker and Shipper Associate’s main role is catching and handling fish and other aquatic animals safely and efficiently for shipment. This hands-on position is vital for maintaining healthy stock, ensuring animals are collected with care, and meeting daily deadlines and departmental goals. The Picker and Shipper Associate also contribute to maintaining a safe, organized work environment and communicates effectively with Managers when needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Properly collect (catch) and handle all aquatic livestock (fish) for shipment.
  • Properly use of handle device (scanner) as a catcher/picker
  • Properly bag, clip, and box orders for outgoing shipments.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure all outgoing shipments meet facility standards.
  • Meet daily deadlines and contribute to department goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
  • Practice good judgment in decision-making and communicate efficiently with Managers when their involvement is necessary.
  • Assist with loading and unloading animals for outgoing shipments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Assist with labeling and packaging for outgoing shipments.
  • Open to work in a support role in other production departments when it is needed.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude and professional, respectful communication.
  • Strong observational skills to ensure quality of shipments.
  • Sound judgment and ability to use common sense for effective decision-making.
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to perform other duties or assist other departments as needed.
  • A valid driver’s license is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
  • Previously worked in aquarium or warehouse is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing and active movement for long periods (7+ hours/day).
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs., kneel, bend, crouch, squat, and stand for extended periods.

Monday- Thursday: 4:00am - 2:30pm
Sunday-Wednesday: 3:00pm= 1:30am
