About This Position
OVERVIEW
Responsible for coordinating and managing daily shipping operations, including load planning, routing, scheduling, and real-time monitoring of temperature-controlled freight to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries. Serves as the primary communication link between customers, production, fleet dispatch, third-party carriers, and management to resolve issues, adjust plans, and maintain efficient, compliant transportation operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
- Coordinate frozen shipments from Oceana County Freezer Storage (OCFS), including scheduling deliveries monitoring shipments in transit, rescheduling when necessary.
- Coordinate ad-hoc transportation needs for shipments that are emergency in nature.
- Obtain rates and schedule shipments with intermodal container drayage & monitor in transit.
- Approve invoices related to PFI – inbound and outbound
- Obtaining rates for tanker shipments from various business units and scheduling shipments.
- Coordinate unloading fees for all PFI businesses in coordination with JVC.
- Schedule PFI local deliveries and work closely with Transportation Manager and PFI fleet.
- Assist logistics/customer service specialist by tracking trucks, monitoring temperatures while on the route. Send updates and relay delays to customers when necessary.
- Assist the Director and Manager of Transportation with the preparation of report and cost figures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
College degree preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in logistics coordination, transportation scheduling, or operational support may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of transportation logistics, including load planning, routing, and scheduling.
- Familiarity with temperature‑controlled freight and ability to interpret reefer and monitor readings.
- Basic understanding of DOT regulations and carrier compliance requirements.
- Experience with TMS or shipment‑tracking tools.
- Proficiency in FMCSA DOT Hours-of-Service regulations and applicability to shipment transit times.
- Able to troubleshoot routing and scheduling issues and work accurately under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Organized and detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Adaptable, dependable, and responsive with a customer‑service mindset.
