Summary:Age of Learning is seeking a skilledTechnical Artist to bridge the gap between art and engineering on Age ofLearnings educational games and interactive products. In this role, you will focus on building efficientpipelines, solving visual-technical challenges, and enabling artists and engineers to work effectively together,ensuring our products are visually engaging, performant, scalable, and developmentally appropriate forchildren. The Technical Artist will be responsible for defining asset requirements, developing methodologies,and creating guidelines that optimize art assets for performance and usability.Additionally, this role will track technical details, facilitate cross-discipline communication, and contribute tothe overall aesthetic and functional success of our digital learning experiences.You will operate as a hands-on individual contributor embedded within cross-functional Agile teams, withbroad influence across art, engineering, UX, and production.Come join us in our effort to deliver a best-in-class, cross-platform product that delights and enlightens children and their parents around the world.Responsibilities
  • Ensure the successful implementation of final art assets in web and mobile applications for consumer and school-based digital products
  • Provide aid to Designers in the creation and hand-off of production-ready art and animation assets
  • Help establish standards, conventions, best practices for asset creation and integration workflow
  • Manage optimization and best practices; ensure art assets meet performance, memory, and platform requirements.
  • Create and maintain art production templates covering wide-ranging needs
  • Research software tools that can help enable art production
  • Partner with engineers to profile, debug, and optimize visual systems.
  • Be the development team's main point of contact on the art and design teams when asset integration or performance questions arise
  • Review assets relative to technical and integration requirements before hand-off
  • Facilitate production-related communication between the engineers, designers, and artists
  • Be sufficiently versed in technology to advise artists and designers on opportunities and limitations affecting design decisions
  • Work with 2D/3D artists to prepare working files for integration into game engines including animations, visual effects, static objects, textures, and rigged characters
  • Support table integration of art assets into live products.
  • Work to optimize and streamline the art pipeline
  • Oversee and manage art-related performance issues and technical budgeting
  • Create and manage tools to expedite the production process
  • Partner with Leads to ensure product vision and quality benchmarks are met
  • Stay current with industry trends and technical advancements used in game development
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist or in a related role, preferably in EdTech, gaming, or interactive media
  • Strong understanding of bothArt fundamentals and technical constraints.
  • Experience with game engines, asset pipelines, and scripting or tooling.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across art and engineering disciplines.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual English/Business Spanish
  • Familiarity with custom shaders or shader plugins (like shader forge, shader graph)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires rapid project turnaround and frequent priority shifts
  • Experience writing custom tools to aid in pipeline efficiency
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language (such as C#, Python, C++) for automation and tool development
  • Experience optimizing assets for web and mobile applications, including texture compression, mesh reduction, and performance profiling
  • Knowledge of device formats and limitations
  • Adept at balancing trade-offs between quality and performance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both design and engineering audiences
  • Team player, accommodating change easily
  • Agile at navigating multiple projects
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detailed oriented
  • Able to manage time and schedules efficiently
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in games, interactive media, or EdTech products.
  • Experience supporting 2D pipelines, UI systems, or animation workflows.
  • Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Passion for enabling creative teams and building joyful learning experiences.
  • Experience working in a scrum/kanban/agile environment
  • Experience with Python, MEL, and C#
  • Experience in 2.5D Art style pipelines
  • Familiar with version control software (like Gitlab, SourceTree)
  • Experience rigging and skinning
  • Experience creating VFX withengineparticle tools
  • Ability to write custom shaders
  • Able to make rough prototype games to demonstrate game design
  • Knowledge of Rive animation and flutter frameworks
  • Good understanding of technical and artistic pipelines in required skills
