Staff Accountant at Paragon Micro Incorporated – Buffalo Grove, Illinois

Paragon Micro is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support our growing finance organization. This role is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience across core accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance activities.

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, perform account analyses, and complete account reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances as needed.
• Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting documentation.
• Respond to internal and external information requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Support compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the Controller and Assistant Controller on special projects and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Meet established processing and reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
• 1+ years of accounting experience, or a recent college graduate with a relevant accounting internship or hands-on practical experience.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); Power BI experience is a plus.
• Interest in pursuing CPA certification (CPA track preferred).

Compensation Philosophy at Paragon Micro

We are offering a salary up to $70,000 annually, which is inclusive of a bonus. The compensation reflects the diverse levels of experiences we are seeking in our candidates and is intended to provide a general framework—not a guarantee of placement at the maximum salary.

Importantly, this base salary and bonus structure does not represent the full scope of our total compensation package, which includes a comprehensive benefits offering, 401(k) retirement plan and profit sharing.
