Together, we will become the world's leading cancer reference laboratory.Position Summary:The Logistics Coordinator supports general Logistic Department activities by coordinating specimen pick up, delivery and recovery. Assists as necessary or required in notification of services changes through direct interface with clients, couriers, client services, or Territory Business Managers.This is the experienced level in the Logistics job category and employees perform the full range of procedures related to specimen transportation.Responsibilities:
  • Tracks specimen delivery and implements appropriate recover options when a service failure isidentified
  • Provides necessary direction to ensure all scheduled specimens are picked up same day for next day delivery tolaboratory
  • Maintains reports based on specimen recovery in pickupscheduling
  • Assists specialized client logistic support by obtaining pricing and arrangement of courier set up as needed orrequired
  • Updates Sales Force with communications regarding specimen deliveries, delays, changes in courier support,etc.
  • Sends out / email correspondence of daily specimen count, delays and tracking as notifications to Senior Staff, Territory Business Managers, etc., asrequired
  • Examines receiving documents for deliverydestination
  • Recommends processimprovements
  • Remains informed of all procedure changes pertaining to specimentransportation
  • Provides Accessioning support by performing quality assurance checks of incoming specimens
  • Responsible for new client setup completion and completing client supplyrequests.
  • Interacts with Territory Business Managers regarding courier service issues, client specific courierrequirements
  • Assisting in promoting cost effective and efficient couriersolutions
  • Attends department meetings and company in-service trainings to enhance knowledge on testing andsystems
  • May assist on specimen filing andshipping.
  • Provide back up to Couriers and perform core responsibilities of such position as needed
  • Assists in the Accessioning process of incoming specimens throughout theday
  • Other duties as assigned by LogisticsSupervisor/Manager
Experience, Educations and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+years of prior work experience in medical or customer service environment preferred.Experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Officeprograms
  • Ability to communicateeffectively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention todetail
  • Ability to work independently and in a teamenvironment
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to stand during shift, excluding meal and restperiod
  • Ability to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages of any weight above 50 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from anotherperson
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to bend/twist at the waist andknees
  • Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements; evenings, weekends, holidays, on call andovertime
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and maintain production and qualitystandards
  • Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and standards outlined in the SafetyManual
