POSITION DETAILS:

Schedule: Swing shift
Location: South Bend, Indiana
Travel: Limited to none
WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
The position will function as on shift coverage for Field Operators and DCS Board Operators as well as providing coverage for Production Shift Supervisors, when needed, in support of facility needs. The role requires the knowledge and skills of both a Field and DCS Board Operator, as well as the ability to lead the crew in the absence of the Production Shift Supervisor. The position works in a 12- hour rotating shift schedule.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Lead and support an operational team in a safe and efficient manner and take ownership of the existing safety, operations, and quality processes on the shift.
- Perform core process operations, which may include the tasks of the Field Operator, DCS Board Operator or Production Shift Supervisor.
- Actively participate in crew and department activities, which may include best practices, SOP development, maintenance, training, continuous improvement efforts and standardization.
- Facilitate team development and communication, employee skill development, problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment, ownership, and holding employees accountable.
- Support plant activities including control room activities during the assigned shift.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the need for additional support for planned and unplanned activities that occur during the shift.
- Provide directions to the team during all phases of operation including normal operations, start up and shut down, emergency and abnormal conditions.
- Assumes responsibility for assigned shift regarding equipment removal and return to service and LO-TO for maintenance needs.
- Work in an organized and safe manner. Address safety and housekeeping needs to ensure a safe and clean workplace.
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues.
- Complete data entry and shift reports in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support project recommendations with operational expertise, permitting and LO-TO.
- Work with the Maintenance and Reliability Team to update and complete the reliability schedule and critical planning list.
- Train and develop Field Operators and DCS Board Operators on assigned shift.
- Ability to define, write and follow Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs).
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a technical field, preferred
- 3+ years of operational or industrial experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team oriented while building strong working relationships
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
- Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
- Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.

ABOUT US:
South Bend Ethanol, LLC, is the most recent plant acquisition. As a global leader in the renewable energy industry, this will be Verbio's second US production facility following the successful commissioning of its Nevada, IA plant. The site will be developed over the next three years incorporating Verbio's advanced engineering and operating technology practices. Verbio intends to expand and develop the plant into a modern biorefinery at an estimated total investment of $230 million.
