POSITION SUMMARY

The Philanthropy Specialist is responsible for supporting the major gifts team with correspondence, scheduling appointments and other tasks related to securing and renewing gifts from donors and prospects. This position also serves as the first line of communication with donors, prospects and others through management of phone calls and visitors to the office. The position manages a number of initiatives that support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship process promoting positive attitudes toward giving among current and prospective major and planned gift donors.

This individual will support the gift officers in monitoring and tracking prospect schedules, importing and extracting information from the donor database to support all areas of the foundation, administer the functions and promotion of the Foundation’s Planned Giving program and support the Prospect Analyst/Manager by ensuring all projects are moving forward on agreed upon or adjusted timelines.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: None
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent, required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year working in a support role for a nonprofit organization or comparable experience preferred and experience maintaining information in databases and/or spreadsheets. Prior experience working in a fund-raising office preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities: Ability to work collaboratively and successfully as a member of a team as well as independently. Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines, while effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of personnel. Possess good analytical and problem-solving skills, be tactful, a good listener, willingness to search out answers, must be detail oriented with excellent follow-through. The ability to relate to persons of all ages and diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities. Ability to deal with diverse and confidential information with discretion and good judgment. Creative and able to be an "out of the box" thinker. Ability to present self in a personable, professional and energetic manner. Knowledge of principles and techniques relevant to major gift fundraising preferred. Must have a high level of accuracy and proofreading skills. Raiser's Edge/NXT knowledge preferred. Strong computer skills including Internet research/ navigation, advanced spreadsheet skills and Microsoft Office. Ability to display a passion for the mission of Craig Hospital.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspire major gift donors and prospects to become lifelong donors to Craig by providing the tools to communicate continually and consistently.
  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and progress toward campaign goals.
  • Help manage campaign pipelines and track donor activity in the database.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the major gift stewardship strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with Major donors.
  • Implement and execute a strategic system to maintain personal contact with major donors and prospects.
  • Provide a high level of customer relations both internally and externally.
  • Create and distribute reports in a timely manner to provide guidance on next steps to be taken with donors and prospects, to include: Action/tickler reports, donor pledge reports and pledge reminder letters, keeping track of former donors (LYBUNTS & SYBUNTS) and renewal dates, coordination of solicitation and stewardship mailings, organizing select cultivation events, and keeping track and reporting on President Circle and Frank Craig Society members.
  • Manage all aspects of the Welcome Bag project for patients and families.

  • Participate in all-staff activities in the Foundation department.
  • Provide back-up support to other administrative staff as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and strategic planning for the foundation.
  • Participate with Super Users group, staff focused on providing excellent database support.
  • Conduct an initial wealth indicator review of inpatients and outpatients with the goal of identifying potential donors.
  • Assist donors with making donations, taking information over the phone and providing appropriate stewardship.
  • Becomes familiar with and follows hospital-wide and department-specific policies and procedures; seeking assistance from management when clarification or assistance is needed.
  • Assist other staff as needed.

Rate of Pay: $20.56/ Hour — $29.61/ Hour
