About This Position
The Senior Development Officer at the Dayton Art Institute is responsible for managing philanthropic and engagement activities both directly, and indirectly though subordinates, which support the museum's mission and goals. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a collaborative approach to work within the development team and across departments.
The role will lead key areas of fundraising including, but not limited to, individual or corporate membership, annual fund, mission-based programs such as curatorial, education, or exhibitions, special programs such as membership events, community events, mini events, and signature events. This position will be responsible for meeting annual revenue targets by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects and will promote planned giving opportunities with their portfolio. The role involves managing significant fundraising activities focused on major gifts to meet an annual operating budget of approximately $3,000,000.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is primarily based in a museum environment, with regular movement throughout offices, galleries, storage areas, and other public facing spaces. The position may require sitting or standing for extended periods and communicating effectively in person and through electronic communication. Occasional lifting of materials up to approximately 20 lbs may be required. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, or special events depending on museum programming and operational needs.
