SYOS Aerospace is establishing manufacturing operations across Mount Maunganui and the UK, and we are looking for a qualified person to take on a hybrid manufacturing and quality engineering role.

This role will be responsible for transitioning products from design projects into production, implementing manufacturing processes, and setting up systems to control quality. To achieve this, we are looking for a candidate that has experience of working inside development projects and establishing and managing both manufacturing and quality systems. As project and production demands grow, this position will develop into a bespoken manufacturing or quality engineering role.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with R&D and design teams to ensure manufacturability of products and identify required manufacturing controls utilizing DFMA principles. Develop and implement manufacturing processes that maximize efficiency and ensure product quality. Critically assess designs and assemblies using risk assessment tools, such as PFMEA, and identify and implement actions to reduce risk. Identify and implement quality controls, establish supporting processes, and implement improvements based on learnings and feedback. Facilitate cross functional root cause analysis sessions in reaction to identified issues, identify and follow up to ensure closed loop corrective actions. Determine production tooling and testing requirements and implement these in accordance with production milestones. Document assembly steps, assess risks, develop work instructions, train relevant staff and ensure ongoing compliance with established processes. Support and where required take ownership of implementation of the QMS/ERP/MRP systems strategy. Contribute to ensuring operational risks are documented and followed up on. Training relevant personnel in new process implementation, process and design changes, and inductions for new staff.

Desirable Skills

Familiar with ISO9001 principles and experienced in implementing systems that comply with these standards. Experience at moving products from design into production, establishing manufacturing processes and production quality controls. Experienced in implementing and maintaining ERP/MRP systems. Experience in facilitating root cause analysis (RCA) reviews, conducting PFMEA reviews, DFMA principles, and contributing to design reviews. Ability to work effectively across cross functional teams, manage ongoing and changing priorities, and possess good facilitation skills. Adept at managing priorities and able to pivot quickly when requires due to changing business priorities.

Qualifications

Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Engineering, or other relevant engineering fields. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or quality engineering roles.
