Position Title: Sr. Business Analyst/Project Manager

Overview:

Akumen, Inc. seeks a dynamic, self-motivated Sr. Business Analyst/Team Lead to join our team in supporting a highly visible Federal customer. You will perform detailed requirements analysis, document processes, and perform some user acceptance testing. To succeed in this role you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain complex concepts to non-technical users.

As a Sr. Business Analyst/Team Lead, you will serve as a dedicated team member with the primary responsibility to support their self-organizing, self-managing team in successfully achieving their daily iteration and release goals and delivery objectives. You will do so by effectively applying, implementing, and enforcing Scrum principles and practices. This role assists in protecting the team from outside influences, which could otherwise interfere with the team's ability to deliver value in a short time box (iteration). You will help mentor and support the team in transitioning to the new method, continuously facilitate a team dynamic intended to maximize the team, and continually improve agile practices.

Other responsibilities to include but not be limited to:

  • Lead and manage a team of business analysts to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business requirements and processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams to facilitate effective communication and project execution.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of business analysis methodologies and best practices.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure timely delivery.
  • Prepare and present reports on project status, insights, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Formation and definition of project scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of the business needs of multiple stakeholders or product owners through various elicitation techniques.
  • Facilitate the negotiation of requirements amongst stakeholders or product owners.
  • Help business stakeholders envision how their processes will change with the implementation of the solutions.
  • Build requirements to accurately and thoroughly capture business needs or ensure user stories are concise and complete.
  • Build and update system requirements specification documents or other requirements-related artifacts.
  • Guide and advise less-experienced Business Systems Analysts.
  • Able to interact with technical staff and work collaboratively to define technical solutions to solve business needs.
  • Able to perform responsibilities utilizing agile or waterfall software development methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in a related Information Technology field
  • 5+ years leading a team of Business Analysts in a technical environment
  • Seven(7) to ten(10) years of experience in developing requirements and writing technical documents
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and/or Azure platforms
  • Able to take the initiative, manage own workload, and assume responsibility for tasks
  • Able to multi-task, handle multiple projects, and meet internal and client deadlines
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to implement improvements to internal team processes
  • Contributes to an atmosphere of cross-functional teamwork within the organization Agile process life cycle
  • Strong written and communication skills are required
  • Must have Agile experience; methodologies and tools
  • Experience with User Interface designs and mockups
  • Previous experience working with Government clients is highly desirable
  • Must have experience in conducting daily stand-up meetings, planning and review sessions, prioritizing tasks and mitigating roadblocks
