Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support Premier Marine’s Paint Line and Maintenance Operations by ensuring reliable operation, improvement, and documentation of manufacturing processes. Production improvements include process documentation, line balancing, material flow delivery, part presentation, workstation layout, 5S, elimination of errors, problem solving, and equipment reliability. Significant collaboration with cross functional teams including engineering, materials, quality, production, and training to resolve productivity, quality, and flow issues.
Management Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Technician is not a supervisory role.
Essential Job Functions
Paint Line Support
- Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving paint line operations, including conveyors, ovens, spray equipment, and chemical systems.
- Collect and analyze process data (temperature, cure times, coating thickness, flow rates, etc.) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support quality checks and ensure paint process parameters remain within specifications.
- Partner with engineers to test and validate process changes or equipment upgrades.
Facilities & Maintenance Support
- Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance activities for facility systems (compressed air, HVAC, water treatment, electrical distribution, etc.).
- Document and track facility and equipment downtime, root causes, and corrective actions.
- Provide technical support during equipment installations, moves, or modifications.
- Maintain accurate drawings, schematics, and records for assigned systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in problem-solving activities (5-Whys, fishbone, root cause analysis).
- Recommend and help implement improvements to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and extend equipment life.
- Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives on the paint line and in facility areas.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, especially related to paint and chemical handling.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action planning.
- Support training of operators and maintenance staff on process changes and equipment best practices.
Required Skills/Abilities

- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
- Proficiency with PC's (MS Office) and CAD software.
- Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Data acquisition equipment experience.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2-year technical degree preferred
- 3 - 5 years manufacturing experience required
