MSA Safety’s V&V team is looking for a technically savvy, engaged, and inquisitive engineer with a passion for product quality, and continuous improvement. What You Will Do

You will be working in our global V&V team helping to launch a wide range of life-protecting systems, which include a combination of hardware, embedded software, cloud, and mobile apps. Your work will be diverse and will involve a spectrum of V&V activities depending on your skills and experience.

  • Understand our products and how our customers use them
  • Analyze requirements for testability, traceability, completeness, and unambiguity
  • Help define verification and validation strategies for given products and solutions
  • Interpret product and technical requirements to design comprehensive test plans utilizing industry-standard verification/validation practices and tools
  • Develop or assemble equipment, fixtures, and other apparatus to execute tests
  • Compile and analyze test results, make recommendations on next steps
  • Collaborate with product design teams for product testability and test strategy activities
    Help troubleshoot issues as needed
  • Create test scripts, participate in automated and manual software testing and debugging efforts as required
  • Mentor and train colleagues and stakeholders in V&V tools, techniques, and processes
    Depending on your experience and interest develop and maintain test automation, software simulators, and tools
  • Opportunities for up to 5% domestic or international travel


Qualifications

Experience and skills required

  • Hands-on validation/verification/testing experience for technical products, preferably including electronics and embedded software
  • Experience working with industry-standard tools related to validation, and verification
  • Experience evaluating, creating, or managing product requirements
  • Familiarity with various testing methodologies
  • Strong communications skills


Experience and skills that are a plus

  • Software development or scripting experience (especially Python)
  • Test automation development
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Familiarity with industry-standard wired and wireless protocols
  • Experience with software and hardware debugging tools (debuggers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, audio test equipment, etc.)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools, such as Bamboo, Jenkins, Travis


Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, preferably from an ABET-accredited program

  • This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
    • Staff I: no experience required
    • Staff II: 2 years relevant experience
    • Staff III: 4 years of relevant experience
    • MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
