JOB TITLE: Assistant Controller

SUMMARY: Manages company’s accounting activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manages all accounting functions including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, and accruals.
- Evaluates, standardizes, and implements improvements to accounting systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls across multiple locations.
- Supervises monthly closing of accounting records on a timely basis and in accordance with latest generally accepted accounting principles.
- Monitors receivables to ensure timely collection and credit risk is mitigated.
- Oversees accounts payable function including but not limited to compliance with expense reporting, capitalization policy, and purchase order procedures.
- Monitors and analyzes inventory levels and identification of excess and/or obsolete inventory.
- Timely and accurate preparation of weekly KPI’s, monthly financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, and variance analysis.
- Directs budget and forecast preparation, reviews budget proposals with operations, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets and forecasts.
- Coordinates annual reviews and tax returns with outside accounting company.
- Assists with company strategic planning.
- Assists with special projects as required.
- Directly manages an Accounting department of 1 Manager and 3 staff.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent degree in Accounting required.
- Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
- Four to six years related Accounting Manager or higher experience in a mid-size distribution and/or manufacturing company.
- Working knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Strong ERP skills with success in automating manual processes, reducing monthly close cycle, and strengthening internal controls.
- Knowledge of Quantum Control (Component Control) ERP a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret economic conditions and anticipate the impact on the organization.
- Ability to work and partner with all levels of management across the organization.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with dynamic priorities with enthusiasm.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate accounting staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
