Job Description
We're looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Cargo Claims Administrator. In this critical role, you'll be the first point of contact for customers and agents reporting cargo claims or seeking updates. Your prompt, professional response and meticulous data entry will keep the claims process moving smoothly—ensuring timely resolutions and reducing risk to the company.
You'll follow established protocols, manage communications with insurance carriers, and track every step of the claims lifecycle.
Essential Job Duties
- Be the first to respond to new cargo claims and status inquiries with professionalism and empathy
- Issue declinations for incomplete claims
- Send calendar response deadlines based on claim submission and last status update
- Document incident details, review documents and claim form to confirm they conform to policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain communication with insurance adjusters of third party carriers
- Establish and maintain communication with company's insurance adjusters on high-value claims to obtain updates
- Coordinate salvage efforts and determine salvage values in collaboration with reputable vendors
- Correspond with and resolve issues involving insurance adjusters, claimants, customers, and/or agents
- Handle invoices, initiate payments, and maintain accurate claim records
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of transportation logistics experience
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Top notch organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with others
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English in a professional manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience adjusting insurance claims
- Experience with maritime and interstate transportation claims
