The Opportunity:

Det-Tronics is seeking a seasoned professional in Manufacturing Engineering, who is responsible for designing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure products are produced efficiently, safely, and at high quality. Will need to analyze production workflows, implement process improvements, develop tooling and fixtures, and work closely with production, quality, and design teams to optimize throughput and reduce costs. This position will also support new product introductions, troubleshoot production issues, and use data-driven methods to improve reliability, yield, and overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuously improve production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput.
  • Develop, implement, and support production processes required to manufacture and test products designed by Engineering, including tooling and fixture design, assembly definitions, process documentation, and resolution of production issues for both released and new products.
  • Provide technical support to assigned production areas to ensure product specifications are met at optimal cost. Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to identify root causes and resolve issues.
  • Develop and maintain process maps, value stream maps, assembly flows, work instructions, control plans, and other standard work documentation. Conduct periodic reviews to ensure documentation remains accurate and up to date.
  • Partner with Test Engineering and Production to establish and maintain a robust preventive maintenance program for manufacturing and test equipment.
  • Establish and maintain labor standards, product routings, and capacity models to support production planning and operational efficiency.
  • Review and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) within production, ensuring clarity, accuracy, effectivity, and proper rework or scrap instructions. Maintain associated items including product labeling, tester configurations, and routing updates.
  • Perform cost analysis, develop capital equipment justifications, lead project implementation, and support annual capital forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Monitor existing products and assembly areas to identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvements. Track and analyze key metrics including yields, productivity, output, capacity, and standard hours.
  • Coordinate the production of print verification units to validate manufacturability, establish production processes, and verify documentation accuracy to ensure reliable quality at the lowest practical cost.
  • Plan and optimize production layouts, workflows, tooling, equipment, and manpower requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency and support capacity needs.
  • Lead or support problem-solving and corrective action initiatives using structured methodologies as required.
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) objectives by completing assigned corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional projects and assignments as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or supporting electro-mechanical assembly and test operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel for data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), documentation releases, and capital equipment projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing tools, including process mapping, value stream mapping, time studies, and cycle time reduction.
  • Ability to analyze and improve manufacturing performance using yield analysis, process capability, and ergonomic workstation design.
  • Experience developing assembly process flows, production routings, floor layouts, and control plans.
  • Experience with CAD software (Creo or SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience designing and building manufacturing test fixtures, including the use of 3D printing and other rapid prototyping technologies.
  • Lean or Six Sigma training/certification preferred.
